No words necessary, in my opinion.

何だこれ? … 畜生!

Literally...

So yeah, apparently... A Japanese scientist is mass producing "burgers" made from human feces... yes mother fuckers, that's right, I said, human, mother fucking, feces...

A Japanese scientist named Mitsuyuki Ikeda developed a new burger made from sewage! Ikeda says he developed the meat to combat rising meat prices and environmental damage. He claims the new meat is healthier and less damaging to nature because it is all recycled material. The bacteria in the sewage is rendered harmless from heating and added chemicals. It consists of 63 percent protein, 25 percent carbohydrates, 3 percent lipids, 9 percent minerals, and looks almost identical to red meat!

Real "Junk" Food Here!

Mao Sugiyama, a self-described “asexual” from Tokyo, cooked up, seasoned and served his own genitalia to five diners at a swanky banquet in Japan last month, Calorie Lab reported.

In most cases, “asexual” is a word used to describe a person who is non-sexual. Sugiyama, however, embraces it as a way to show that he does not affiliate with either gender.

Sugiyama sparked a firestorm of interest on April 8 with one tweet:

“[Please retweet] I am offering my male genitals (full penis, testes, scrotum) as a meal for 100,000 yen… Will prepare and cook as the buyer requests, at his chosen location.”

Just days after Sugiyama’s 22nd birthday, the artist underwent elective genital-removal surgery, divvied up the severed penis shaft, testicles, and scrotal skin between five people, and garnished it with button mushrooms and Italian parsley.

On April 13, five of six diners who signed up for the $250-a-plate feast, sat down to dinner. The sixth person was a no-show.

The next day, an organizer posted a blog containing pictures of the event. Images showed dozens of people who attended the event just to catch a glimpse of the rare treat.

The extra diners were served crocodile-based dishes while Sugiyama cooked up the exclusive meal.

The story went viral in Japan. Some showed even more interest, while others complained. But Calorie Lab called Japanese authorities, who deemed the banquet legal because there is no law against cannibalism in the country.

I always have said that my people will eat anything. Nice to know that Japan has no laws against cannibalism. If you don’t have enough money to cremate your loved ones, just host a buffet...

Today's choking, yet entirely Fucked Up Fact...

Yesterday I was scouring the web, looking for interesting things to post in my blog... It's usually a simple, yet tedious process... and rarely is it ever marred by anything I, myself, find disturbing, shocking and/or offensive... because let's face it... like most people, I am an angel and a demon (mostly demon) wrapped into one meat sack, and well, most people who know me, know, that it takes a special kind of fucked up to disturb, shock, and/or offend me... Well this did it... Needless to say, I will NO LONGER be buying ANY Dow Chemical products... I refuse to lend any financial support to a company who will not help the people that it has wronged... I know, by now you're asking "Fawn, what in the holy fuck are you talking about?", and you'd be right to ask... What am I talking about? I am talking about the BHOPAL GAS LEAK of 1984... Now you're asking me, "Why should I be concerned with something that happened 28 years ago...?". Well, I'll tell you, simply because as the old saying goes, "Those who fail to learn from the mistakes of their predecessors, are destined to repeat them.", I happen to be a firm believer in that statement, and from what I've read over the past couple of hours, Dow Chemical has learned NOTHING, but how to carefully, and quietly sweep this matter under the proverbial rug... It sickens me...

Dow shall be liable... I won't allow you to bury justice... Give the people of Bhopal what they want... Extradite the Butcher of Bhopal...

Now, without further adieu, a lengthy explanation...

The Bhopal disaster was an "Industrial Catastrophe" that occurred at a pesticide plant owned and operated by Union Carbide (UCIL) in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. Around midnight on the intervening night of December 2–3, 1984, the plant released methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas and other toxins, resulting in the exposure of over 500,000 people. Estimates vary on the death toll. The official immediate death toll was 2,259 and the government of Madhya Pradesh has confirmed a total of 3,787 deaths related to the gas release. Other government agencies estimate 20,000-300,000 deaths. Others estimate that 8,000 died within the first weeks and that another 8,000 have since died from gas-related diseases.
Some 28 years after the gas leak, 390 tons of toxic chemicals abandoned at the UCIL plant continue to leak and pollute the groundwater in the region and affect thousands of Bhopal residents who depend on it, though there is some dispute as to whether the chemicals still stored at the site pose any continuing health hazard. There are currently civil and criminal cases related to the disaster ongoing in the United States District Court, Manhattan and the District Court of Bhopal, India against Union Carbide, now owned by Dow Chemical Company, with an Indian arrest warrant pending against Warren Anderson, CEO of Union Carbide at the time of the disaster. No one has yet been prosecuted.

The UCIL factory was established in 1969 near Bhopal. 50.9% was owned by Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) and 49.1 % by various Indian investors, including public sector financial institutions. It produced the pesticide carbaryl (trademark Sevin). In 1979 a methyl isocyanate (MIC) production plant was added to the site. MIC, an intermediate in carbaryl manufacture, was used instead of less hazardous but more expensive materials. UCC understood the properties of MIC and its handling requirements.
During the night of December 2–3, 1984, large amounts of water entered tank 610, containing 42 tonnes of methyl isocyanate. The resulting exothermic reaction increased the temperature inside the tank to over 200 °C (392 °F), raising the pressure to a level the tank was not designed to withstand. This forced the emergency venting of pressure from the MIC holding tank, releasing a large volume of toxic gases into the atmosphere. The gases flooded the city of Bhopal, causing great panic as people woke up with a burning sensation in their lungs. Thousands died immediately from the effects of the gas and many were trampled in the panic.
Theories of how the water entered the tank differ. At the time, workers were cleaning out pipes with water, and some claim that owing to bad maintenance and leaking valves, it was possible for the water to leak into tank 610. In December 1985 The New York Times reported that according to UCIL plant managers the hypothesis of this route of entry of water was tested in the presence of the Central Bureau Investigators and was found to be negative. UCC also maintains that this route was not possible, and that it was an act of sabotage by a "disgruntled worker" who introduced water directly into the tank. However, the company's investigation team found no evidence of the necessary connection. The Trade Union Report failed to mention that the investigation was totally controlled by the government investigators denying UCC investigators any access to inspecting the ill-fated tank.
The 1985 reports give a picture of what led to the disaster and how it developed, although they differ in details.

Factors leading to the gas leak include:
  • The use of hazardous chemicals (MIC) instead of less dangerous ones
  • Storing these chemicals in large tanks instead of over 200 steel drums.
  • Possible corroding material in pipelines
  • Poor maintenance after the plant ceased production in the early 1980s
  • Failure of several safety systems (due to poor maintenance and regulations).
  • Safety systems being switched off to save money—including the MIC tank refrigeration system which alone would have prevented the disaster.

The problem was made worse by the plant's location near a densely populated area, non-existent catastrophe plans and shortcomings in health care and socioeconomic rehabilitation. Analysis shows that the parties responsible for the magnitude of the disaster are the two owners, Union Carbide Corporation and the Government of India, and to some extent, the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Why can't I be in San Francisco...?

Strong winds and shifting sands have uncovered an eerie reminder of San Francisco's past: discarded gravestones and broken tomb markers used decades ago to shore up the Ocean Beach seawall. The tombstones became visible this week, including bits and pieces of marble and granite that once marked the final resting places of citizens long dead. One of them is the nearly intact marble tombstone of Delia Presby Oliver, who died at the age of 26 on Apr. 9, 1890. Her remains were removed and reburied when San Francisco authorities closed nearly all the city cemeteries and moved the bodies to Colma in the early 20th century - part of a move to make space for the growing city. Oliver's original tombstone and thousands like it were used as landfill or in other ways throughout San Francisco. Some were used as breakwaters. Pieces of others were used to line the gutters of Haight-Ashbury's Buena Vista Park. Some gravestones were used to build the seawall along the Great Highway. Large tombs and crypts were dumped into San Francisco Bay.

"There's a romance to it, but no mystery," said John Martini, a San Francisco historian and former National Park Service ranger who has studied what lies under the Ocean Beach sands. "They are part of San Francisco history." Martini said strong winds often uncover all kinds of things, even the remains of shipwrecks. The timbers of the sailing ship King Philip, wrecked at Ocean Beach in the 19th century, reappeared a couple of years ago and then vanished again under the sand after a few weeks. The gravestones are like that, Martini said. "They turned up some years ago in about the same place. There was a big fuss, and then they were covered up again. How soon we forget." Delia Presby Oliver's grave marker is a heavy, solid piece of stone meant to last an eternity. The tombstone, nearly as intact as the day it was carved more than 122 years ago, was uncovered in a drift of black sand near the end of Rivera Street. She was a member of a prominent family. Her father, David Shattuck, was born in New England and served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Her parents lived on Nob Hill. Delia Presby was born in San Francisco in 1863 and married Frank B. Oliver on Oct. 27, 1885. She died less than five years later. Newspapers did not report the cause of her death, but a notice in the San Francisco Call on April 10, 1890, said, "Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services ... from the residence of her parents No. 814 Powell Street. Interment private." It is not clear where Delia Oliver was buried, but it is likely that a person of her standing might be interred in the old Laurel Hill Cemetery, which extended south and west of California Street near what is now Presidio Avenue. In the 1920s and '30s, the city decided to move the cemeteries out of the city. The Chinese, the Jewish, the Masonic and the Catholic cemeteries were destroyed.

Laurel Hill was one of the last to go. In 1937, The Chronicle described it as "a silent city of the dead." There were 35,000 men, women and children buried there, all removed to make way for the Laurel Heights development. Martini said much of the western part of the city was built atop old cemeteries, including shopping centers, housing developments and the campus of the University of San Francisco. "They found hundreds of bodies when they did seismic work at the Palace of the Legion of Honor," he said. "It was pauper's cemetery. And there are literally hundreds of bodies under the Lincoln Park Golf Course. No one kept track of them all." In established cemeteries, like Laurel Hill and Calvary on Geary Boulevard, "The remains of the loved one were removed at no cost," Martini said. "But if you wanted to remove a headstone, or a funerary building, the family had to pay the cost." So tombstones left behind were recycled and used in various city projects. The Chronicle wrote about gravestones surfacing on Ocean Beach in spring 1977. Beachcombers were stunned. Finding them was "the strangest stuff I've ever come across in a city that's weird enough," Gail Bills, who grew up in the Sunset District, told The Chronicle in a 1977 article about the tombstones. The drifting sands soon covered them up again.

This spring, the winds were particularly fierce, said Alexandra Picavet, spokeswoman for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which manages Ocean Beach. "This happens every once in a while," she said. "It's been a crazy year for sand." Picavet said the Park Service has no plans to remove the gravestones. Eventually, they'll be covered again by the drifting sand, only to be rediscovered in a few more years.

(The first picture is of her discarded stone, the second is her death notice, the third is her marriage notice, and the fourth is her parents house, which she resided at until the time of her death, which according to my research, was a result of TB...)

Today's pissy, yet entirely Fucked Up Fact...

There comes a time in everyone’s life when there is need for a pregnancy test. It’s usually helpful to know if you’re going to be having a child, so cheap at-home pregnancy tests are cheap and easy to obtain. Anyway, I was surprised to see this particular test which had a USB plug on the end.

First, let me get set the record straight here... as most people who know me, know that I am a USB geek, nothing, and I mean, NOTHING... that anyone has peed on, or will pee on, is ever getting plugged into my computer. This device promises to analyze your urine for increased hormone levels which can be a sine of pregnancy. I don’t care how accurate this thing is, it’s not getting plugged into my computer, even if it is only $17.99.

Today's green, yet truly Fucked Up Fact...

Aokigahara (青木ヶ原), also known as the Sea of Trees (樹海), is a 35-square-kilometre (14 sq mi) forest that lies at the northwest base of Mount Fuji in Japan. The forest contains a number of rocky, icy caverns, a few of which are popular tourist destinations. Due to the wind-blocking density of the trees and an absence of wildlife, the forest is known for being eerily quiet.

The forest has a historic association with demons in Japanese mythology and is a popular place for suicides; 54 completed the act in 2010, despite numerous signs, in Japanese and English, urging people to reconsider their actions.

The forest is a popular place for suicides, reportedly the most popular in Japan and second in the world after San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. Statistics vary. In the period leading up to 1988, about 30 suicides occurred there every year.

In 2002, 78 bodies were found within the forest, exceeding the previous record of 74 in 1998. In 2003, the rate climbed to 100, and in recent years, the local government has stopped publicizing the numbers in an attempt to downplay Aokigahara's association with suicide. In 2004, 108 people killed themselves in the forest. In 2010, 247 people attempted suicide in the forest, 54 of whom completed the act. Suicides are said to increase during March, the end of the fiscal year in Japan.

The high rate of suicide has led officials to place signs in the forest, in Japanese and English, urging those who have gone there in order to commit suicide to seek help and not kill themselves. The annual body search, consisting of a small army of police, volunteers, and attendant journalists, began in 1970.

The site's popularity has been attributed to the 1960 novel Nami no Tō (波の塔, lit., "Tower of Waves") by Seichō Matsumoto, which ends with two lovers committing suicide in the forest. However, the history of suicide in Aokigahara predates the novel's publication, and the place has long been associated with death: ubasute may have been practiced there into the 19th century, and the forest is reputedly haunted by the ghosts of those left to die.

Though I don't think you came here for a history lesson...

ON WITH THE GORE!

Note, some of these pictures are blurred... not my fault, I didn't do it, don't complain to me.

Pretty cool, huh?

Today's chilly, yet truly Fucked Up Fact...

To signal the return of my "Oh My Fuck, Fawn"... I thought we would travel to Napal...

Mount Everest has claimed the lives of over 216 known mountain climbers in recorded history.  The area above 26,000 feet is called “the Death Zone”, where breathing fresh oxygen from canisters is necessary for all but the most experienced climbers.  The atmospheric pressure is about a third of that at sea level, so there is about one third the amount of oxygen to breathe.  The air is so thin, recovery of bodies is impossible.  As such, many victims lay where they took their last breath.

My question is... why would any sane person want to risk life and limb to see Napal from 26,000 feet...

With that being said, and seeing how my sanity is constantly in question, hell yes I'd do it, just so that I could see and touch shit like this.

Today’s Obedient, Yet Truly Fucked Up Fact!

Imagine that you’ve volunteered for an experiment, but when you show up at the lab you discover the researcher wants you to murder an innocent person. You protest, but the researcher firmly states, “The experiment requires that you do it.” Would you acquiesce and kill the person? When asked what they would do in such a situation, almost everyone replies that of course they would refuse to commit murder. But Stanley Milgram’s famous obedience experiment, conducted at Yale University in the early 1960s, revealed that this optimistic belief is wrong. If the request is presented in the right way, almost all of us quite obediently become killers.

Milgram told subjects they were participating in an experiment to determine the effect of punishment on learning. One volunteer (who was, in reality, an actor in cahoots with Milgram) would attempt to memorize a series of word pairs. The other volunteer (the real subject) would read out the word pairs and give the learner an electric shock every time he got an answer wrong. The shocks would increase in intensity by fifteen volts with each wrong answer. The experiment began. The learner started getting some wrong answers, and pretty soon the shocks had reached 120 volts. At this point the learner started crying out, “Hey, this really hurts.” At 150 volts the learner screamed in pain and demanded to be let out. Confused, the volunteers turned around and asked the researcher what they should do. He always calmly replied, “The experiment requires that you continue.”

Milgram had no interest in the effect of punishment on learning. What he really wanted to see was how long people would keep pressing the shock button before they refused to participate any further. Would they remain obedient to the authority of the researcher up to the point of killing someone? To Milgram’s surprise, even though volunteers could plainly hear the agonized cries of the learner echoing through the walls of the lab from the neighboring room, two-thirds of them continued to press the shock button all the way up to the end of scale, 450 volts, by which time the learner had fallen into an eerie silence, apparently dead. Milgram’s subjects sweated and shook, and some laughed hysterically, but they kept pressing the button. Even more disturbingly, when volunteers could neither see nor hear feedback from the learner, compliance with the order to give ever greater shocks was almost 100%. Milgram later commented, “I would say, on the basis of having observed a thousand people in the experiment and having my own intuition shaped and informed by these experiments, that if a system of death camps were set up in the United States of the sort we had seen in Nazi Germany, one would be able to find sufficient personnel for those camps in any medium-sized American town.”

I Notice a Pregnant Pause as I Present Today's bewitching, yet truly fucked up fact!

During the witch hunt persecutions in the 16th century in Europe, the greatest sexual sin was any use of "birth control", whether by means of contraception, or abortion.

The sorcery that one woman was accused of was teaching two young women how "not to get pregnant". In Hamburg a woman was burned to death because she taught young women how to use abortifacients, and at Zwickau, another female was burned with her books and instruments because she aborted the fruit of the womb “durch ihre falsche Art” (through her treacherous method). Midwives were taunted, “How many children have you destroyed? How many pregnant women? How many mothers lying-in?” At Wurzburg, where several hundred people were put to death in two years (1627-29), a midwife was blamed for the entire disorder.

This attack on birth control and abortion might be seen as a protection of the fetus, if the authorities had shown a corresponding respect for pregnancy, birth, or infancy. They did not. When Alison Legrand was arrested for witchcraft, although she protested that she was pregnant, she was twice submitted to the ordeal of water (“ducking”). Although proven innocent, she miscarried. Though courts sometimes let a pregnant prisoner go, often they did not, forcing the gravid woman to give birth under harsh conditions. Sometimes the infant died, as did Sarah Goode’s newborn in Salem jail; in other cases, the new mother was tortured and executed anyway (Jehanne de Monchecourt in northern France, 1610); in a few cases the pregnant woman, denied a stay, was executed with the fetus (for example, Elizabeth Lowys, England). Children were pressured to give evidence against their parents and to witness their parents’ execution. Children as young as three were imprisoned and as young as eight were executed as witches. The society that hunted witches could not claim to be pro-fetus or pro-child.

And humans consider themselves enlightened...

Today's sensational, yet truly fucked up fact!

Sada Abe (阿部 定) was a Japanese woman who was thrown out of her home as a teenager after losing her virginity to a rapist. She became a low-ranking geisha whose main duties were to provide sex and worked in the prostitution industry for several years. In February 1936, at the urging of her lover Goro Omiya, she began an apprenticeship at a restaurant owned by Kichizo Ishida (石田 吉蔵), 42. When Abe joined his restaurant, Ishida was known as a womanizer who did little in the way of running the restaurant, which was managed mostly by his wife. Not long after she began work at the restaurant, Ishida began making advances towards Abe. Omiya had never satisfied Abe sexually, and she gave in to Ishida. In mid-April, Ishida and Abe initiated their sexual relationship in the restaurant, to the accompaniment of a romantic ballad sung by one of the restaurant’s geishas. On April 23, 1936 Abe and Ishida met for a pre-arranged sexual encounter at a teahouse — the contemporary equivalent of a love hotel. Planning only a short “fling”, the couple stayed in bed continuously for four days. On the night of April 27, 1936, they moved to another teahouse in the distant neighborhood of Futako Tamagawa. Here they continued to drink and have sex. Ishida did not return to the restaurant until the morning of May 8, 1936. Of Ishida, Abe later said, “It is hard to say exactly what was so good about Ishida. But it was impossible to say anything bad about his looks, his attitude, his skill as a lover, the way he expressed his feelings. I had never met such a sexy man.”

After they separated, Abe became agitated and began drinking excessively. She claimed that with Ishida she knew love for the first time in her life, and the thought that Ishida was back with his wife made her jealous. On May 9, 1936 she attended a play in which a geisha attacks her lover with a large knife. After seeing this, Abe decided to threaten Ishida with a knife at their next meeting. She pulled the knife out of her bag and threatened him as in the play. Ichida was startled, but seemed delighted with the prop. Ishida and Abe began another marathon lovemaking session. During their lovemaking this time, Abe put the knife to the base of Ishida’s penis, and said she would make sure he would never play around with another woman. Ishida laughed at this. Two nights into this bout of sex, Abe began choking Ishida, and he told her to continue, saying that this increased his pleasure. She had him do it to her as well. On the evening of the May 16, 1936, Abe used her obi sash to cut off Ishida’s breathing during orgasm, and they both enjoyed it. They repeated this for two more hours. Once Abe stopped the strangulation, Ishida’s face became distorted, and would not return to its normal appearance. Ishida took 30 tablets of a sedative called Calmotin to try to soothe his pain. According to Abe, as Ishida started to doze, he told her, “You’ll put the cord around my neck and squeeze it again while I’m sleeping, won’t you… If you start to strangle me, don’t stop, because it is so painful afterward.” Abe commented that she wondered if he had wanted her to kill him, but on reflection decided he must have been joking.

About 2 a.m. on the morning of May 18, 1936, as Ishida was asleep, Abe wrapped her sash twice around his neck and strangled him to death. She later told police, “After I had killed Ishida I felt totally at ease, as though a heavy burden had been lifted from my shoulders, and I felt a sense of clarity.” After laying with Ishida’s body for a few hours, she next severed his genitalia with the kitchen knife, wrapped them in a magazine cover, and kept them until her arrest three days later. With the blood, she wrote, "二人っきり定吉蔵" (Sada, Kichi, just the two of us) on Ishida’s left thigh, and on a bed sheet. She then carved “ 定” (Sada) into his left arm. After putting on Ishida’s underwear, she left the inn at about 8 a.m., telling the staff not to disturb Ishida. When asked why she had severed Ishida’s genitalia, Abe replied, “Because I couldn’t take his head or body with me. I wanted to take the part of him that brought back to me the most vivid memories.”

After leaving the inn, Abe met Goro Omiya. She repeatedly apologized to him, but Omiya, unaware of the murder, assumed that she was apologizing for having taken another lover. Abe’s apologies were for the damage to his political career that she knew his association with her was bound to cause. On May 19, 1936, the newspapers picked up the story. Omiya’s career was ruined, and Abe’s life was under intense public scrutiny from that point onwards. Abe was arrested and interrogated over eight sessions. The interrogating officer was struck by Abe’s demeanor when asked why she had killed Ishida. “Immediately she became excited and her eyes sparkled in a strange way.” Her answer was: “I loved him so much, I wanted him all to myself. But since we were not husband and wife, as long as he lived he could be embraced by other women. I knew that if I killed him no other woman could ever touch him again, so I killed him…..” When the details of the crime were made public, rumors began to circulate that Ishida’s penis was of an extraordinary size. However, the police officer who interrogated Abe after her arrest denied this, saying, “Ishida’s was just average. [Abe] told me, ‘Size doesn’t make a man in bed. Technique and his desire to please me were what I liked about Ishida.’” After her arrest, Ishida’s penis and testicles were moved to Tokyo University Medical School’s pathology museum. The were put on public display not long after the end of World War II, but they have since disappeared. On December 21, 1936 Abe was convicted of murder in the second degree and mutilation of a corpse. Though the prosecution demanded ten years, and she was hoping for the death penalty, Abe was sentenced to six years in prison. She was released, exactly five years after the murder, on May 17, 1941.

This case was also made into a motion picture in 1976, called 愛のコリーダ (In the Realm of the Senses). I'm going to see if I can find a copy, watch it and then I'll blog about it at a later date.

Today's explosive, yet truly fucked up fact!

Seven people were killed when a World War II bomb exploded in western Burma , officials said Thursday. They were killed accidentally in the blast while trying to remove a bomb that appeared at the sea shore near their village. "They seemed to have no idea what it was," said a government official who asked not to be named. The accident took place Wednesday near the port town of Sittwe -- 314 miles (505km) northwest of the capital city of Rangoon. The victims were all men. We think the old bomb was left over from World War II. "We have no idea how many of them are left buried around the country," a second official said. Fatal accidents involving old bombs are rare in Burma, which saw fierce fighting during World War II, when it was occupied by Japan before returning to British rule until its independence in 1948.

Today's smokey, yet truly fucked up fact!

Shanghai police were investigating Thursday after a man died when he was allegedly abandoned under general anesthetic on a hospital operating table after a fire broke out. The 49-year-old was undergoing an amputation after surviving a traffic accident when a blaze broke out in an adjacent operating theater of Shanghai No. 3 People’s Hospital at about 10:00pm Wednesday, the Shanghai Daily reported. Police said he died from smoke inhalation. Officials were quoted as saying that all other patients were evacuated during the emergency, but that when staff returned to the building they found the man dead on the operating table.

Way to go China!

Today’s unqualified yet truly fucked up fact!

I bet you didn't know this, but prior to the development of modern forensic science procedures (say right around the 1940s or so), The United States required no medical background or training for county or state coroners, even though they were charged with determining the cause of death.

For instance, A list of New York City coroners, from 1898 to 1915, included eight undertakers, seven politicians, six real estate dealers, two saloon keepers, two plumbers, a lawyer, a printer, an auctioneer, a wood carver, a carpenter, a painter, a butcher, a marble cutter, a milkman, an insurance agent, a labor leader, and a musician.

It also included 17 physicians, but these were men like Patrick Riordan, doctors who had lost their practice and turned to a political position. None of them were asked to pass a test in order to hold office, or exhibit any knowledge of the profession. As a result, death certificates were filled out with no effort at determining cause. Among the entries were “could be suicide or murder,” and “either assault or diabetes.” In one instance a coroner had attributed a death to “diabetes, tuberculosis or nervous indigestion.” A few death certificates simply read “act of God”.

I don't know about you, but I certainly wouldn't have wanted my neighborhood Milkman being the leading authority telling my family how I ultimately met my demise... Also, what exactly classifies a "nervous indigestion", and how does one die from it? Not to mention, aren't all deaths ultimately considered "Acts of God"?

Today’s hungry yet truly fucked up fact!

In some of my old blogs my readers seemed to absolutely delight in the fact that I would constantly bring them awful facts, or news stories. I thought this blog should be no different.

Culled from: The Daily Telegraph (August, 21,2011)

"A distraught mother listened on a mobile phone as her teenage daughter was eaten alive by a brown bear and its three cubs. Olga Moskalyova, 19, gave an horrific hour-long running commentary on her own death in three separate calls as the wild animals mauled her. She screamed: ‘Mum, the bear is eating me! Mum, it’s such agony. Mum, help!’ Her mother Tatiana said that at first she thought she was joking. ‘But then I heard the real horror and pain in Olga’s voice, and the sounds of a bear growling and chewing,’ she added. ‘I could have died then and there from shock.’ Unknown to Tatiana, the bear had already killed her husband Igor Tsyganenkov – Olga’s stepfather – by overpowering him, breaking his neck and smashing his skull. Olga, a trainee psychologist, saw the attack on her stepfather in tall grass and reeds by a river in Russia and fled for 70 yards before the mother bear grabbed her leg. As the creature toyed with her, she managed to call Tatiana several times during the prolonged attack. Tatiana rang her husband – not knowing he was already dead – but got no answer. She alerted the police and relatives in the village of Termalniy, near Petropavlovsk Kamchatskiy, in the extreme east of Siberia. She begged them to rush to the river where the pair had gone to retrieve a fishing rod that Igor had left. In a second call, a weak Olga gasped: ‘Mum, the bears are back. She came back and brought her three babies. They’re… eating me.’ Finally, in her last call – almost an hour after the first – Olga sensed she was on the verge of death. With the bears having apparently left her to die, she said: ‘Mum, it’s not hurting any more. I don’t feel the pain. Forgive me for everything, I love you so much.’ Half an hour later, Igor’s brother Andrei arrived with police to find the mother bear still devouring his body. Badly mauled Olga was also dead. Six hunters were sent in by the emergency services to kill the mother bear and her three cubs. The double killing is the latest in a spate of bear attacks across Russia, as the hungry animals seek food in areas where people have encroached and settled on their former habitat. A weeping Tatiana said that Olga had everything to look forward to, and was happy with her life and boyfriend Stepan. ‘My daughter was such fun. She was so cheerful, friendly, and warm,’ said Tatiana. ‘She had graduated from music school, and just days before the bear attack she got her driving licence.’ Her husband and daughter are due to be buried today."

And call me cruel, but I laughed out loud when I read this part.

‘Mum, the bears are back. She came back and brought her three babies. They’re… eating me.’

Om nom... a family affair!

So it’s come to this with our "cell phone savvy generation"? You can’t even die properly without being on the phone? I’m surprised she, with her incredible endurance (I'd kill for her endurance... though I'd rather forgo the whole "being made a snack for The Berenstain Bears" part.), she didn’t post about it on Facebook, complete with photographs (now that would have been pretty awesome). If she was an American, she probably would have…

In closing, I'd like to say this, if we would stay away from the bears territory, they would likely stay away from us... As Trent would say, "STOP FUCKING", and curb the over-population situation that threatens the bear's natural habitat, after all, they are bigger than us, and apparently like the taste of stupid human.

By the way The Berenstain Bears are fucking AWESOME!
